Waste Heat Recovery
Heat Pipe Heat Exchanger
Passive heat transfer between separate hot and cold streams.
Sealed heat pipes use phase-change heat transfer to move thermal energy with a small temperature difference and without direct mixing of the hot and cold streams. Passive operation requires no rotating machinery in the heat-transfer device.
Applications include boiler and kiln exhaust, drying systems, ovens, steel and cement plants, data-center heat recovery and commercial HVAC.
Finned two-dimensional heat-pipe exchangers address energy recovery in the 5–350°C range. Other configurations support HVAC heat recovery and dehumidification. Materials and construction depend on the environment.
